The purpose of this web site was to
add some useful information to those of us wanting to
have beautiful gardens in the northern states. My mother
taunts me each year when she picks her lettuce in
January and I'm looking at 2 feet of snow and have to
wait 4 more months before I can even put a seed in the
ground.
I look through everyone of these sites
and will make my best effort to only list useful links.
There are thousands of sites that will sell you
anything. I'm hoping to steer people towards the ones
that actually provide information.
Cornell
Plantation - Although Cornell has the great
attribute of free labor it does still show what grows in
this area as well as pictures and names.
http://www.northerngardening.com/
This fellow from Minnesota has some good tips.
InfoRochester.com
Some good photos of the native plants. I've also used
his photos on some of the flower photos. National
Gardening - Dictionary - This is a great way to find
the common name and botanical
name for plants. The site is worth perusing for
other useful info. Gardencom.com
- Garden Directory site. The
Lazy Gardener - This one I have to say I really
like! It's succinct, pretty and anything starting off
with "lazy" for gardening has got to be
good. Here's her description: A
place for people who love to garden, but don't always
have the time or the inclination. My
Deer Garden - This one wins hands down for the best
deer resistant ideas, plants and designs. I agree
with her that many people (like my own web site) will
just list the plants that are deer resistant. But
her site gives detailed information on this along with
many other helpful aspects like garden designs.
